The Naples Music Conservatory

The faculty and students of the San Pietro a Maiella Music Conservatory in Naples (#41 on the map of the Historic Center of Naples — click here) offer a very wide variety of recitals and concerts under the rubric of I Venerdi musicali (Musical Fridays). Music ranges from choral concerts of medieval polyphony to modern orchestral works. Most of the concerts are on Fridays; some are on Wednesdays. Times vary; generally they are at either 4 p.m. or 7 p.m.

Tours

Guided tours of the Roman aqueduct system (click here for a related item) beneath the Historic Center of Naples: Well worth the visit unless you are claustrophobic. Every day at irregular intervals from Piazza Gaetano near the intersection of Via dei Tribunali and Via San Gregorio Armeno (adjacent to number 33 on this map of the Historic Center).  Tel. 081 296944.

Alternately, on Sat. and Sun. at 10  and 12 a.m. and 6 p.m. as well as Thurs. at 9 p.m. leaving from Piazza Tieste e Trento across from the Royal Palace. Tel. 081 400256.
